At age 35, he was the youngest Head Coach in the National Hockey League when he moved behind the B’s bench for the 2003-2004 season. Sullivan earned rave reviews when he led the club to the Northeast Division title and the second-best record in the Eastern Conference with a mark of 41-19-15-7, for 104 points and a .634 win percentage. Mike came to Boston after one year as the head coach of the Bruins top minor-league affiliate, the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. Under his watch, the AHL Bruins captured the North Division title and established a franchise-record with a 19-game home unbeaten streak. Sullivan entered coaching after an 11-year playing career in the NHL with San Jose, Calgary, Boston, and Phoenix. A native of Marshfield, Massachusetts, Mike was a standout four-year player at Boston University in the late 1980’s, and finished his Terrier career with 138 points in 141 games.return to celebrity listing |
